Umberto Giordano (1867-1948) is often described as a composer who had only one "hit," but this is not strictly true. In addition to Andrea Chenier, he had triumphs with Fedora, Siberia, and Madame Sans-Gene, all of which are still heard occasionally in Italy. It is indeed the case, however, that only Andrea Chenier has entered the standard repertoire worldwide.
