Window on Britain is a British culture video aimed at learners in their first year of English. The eight units were shot on location and combine factual information with some semi-dramatized scenes. Through the presenter, students explore topics such as sport, pop, festivals and London.
Window on Britain is accompanied by an Activity Book for students and comprehensive teaching notes in a separate Video Guide. It can be used on its own or in conjunction with WOW 1 and other level 1 coursebooks.
The Activity Book prepares students for each unit with a general knowledge quiz and a word-building puzzle. It then offers thorough exploitation of the video with a review section followed by a variety of lively activities including competitions, project work, class surveys and role-plays. A final section provides reading and writing activities to be done at home or in the classroom.
The Video Guide contains full teaching notes, answers to exercises, cultural information and a transcript of the video.
